Alizeh Shah gives ‘final warning’ to Yasir Nawaz over repeated on-air mentions, threatens defamation suit
Actor Alizeh Shah has given what she calls a “final warning” to Yasir Nawaz, asking him to stop using her name and “defaming” her on public platforms, after she was mentioned in a game segment on Geo Entertainment’s Hasna Mana Hai, where the Nawaz brothers appeared as guests.

“This is my final warning to Yasir Nawaz to refrain from taking my name on any platform. It has been five years since I worked on a project with him, yet he continues to mention my name on nearly every talk show he appears on,” Shah wrote in an Instagram story.

Two weeks ago, on Hasna Mana Hai, Yasir and Danish Nawaz were made to choose a celebrity as a hypothetical sibling from two options shown on screen; Alizeh’s picture appeared alongside journalist Waseem Badami’s. Danish teased his brother, suggesting he would choose Alizeh as his sister. Yasir initially tried to deflect but eventually responded, jokingly, “You can make her your sister, I don’t want to.”

In her story, Alizeh said that Yasir’s past experience with her did not give him the right to “repeatedly drag” her name for over five years.

“At times, he offers an apology, and at other times he claims that the experience was ‘not fun’ […] I have documented reports and records of every show in which he has defamed me.”

Calling it her final warning, Alizeh said she would pursue legal action if it happens again.

“If he mentions my name again or refers to me in any capacity on any future platform, I will proceed with filing a defamation lawsuit against him without further notice.”

She went on to add: “Furthermore, if this continues, I will disclose to the entire industry the real reasons why he did not like working with me. Trust me, it will not reflect well on your image.”

The tension between the two dates back to Yasir’s comments about Alizeh’s alleged behaviour on the set of Mera Dil Mera Dushman (2020). At the time, the actor-director said he had struggled during the shoot, with his wife and host Nida Yasir also sharing his “difficulties” of working with Alizeh.

Nida had remarked that an actor must “keep their private life separate from the role”, while Nawaz said he had been “disturbed during acting”, adding that he did not enjoy the experience and at one point even regretted taking on the project. “I went to that limit,” he had said.

Yasir later expressed regret over publicly naming and shaming Alizeh.

Yasir’s original comments had sparked widespread debate online, with several celebrities weighing in. While some sided with him, others, including actor Feroze Khan and singer Momina Mustehsan, publicly defended Alizeh at the time.
